Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams says “Local families are telling me they can’t take another tax hike.”

It is no April Fool’s Joke. On April 1st, The Liberal Government will hike the carbon tax by 23%. Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams says the Conservative Party will continue it’s fight to “axe the tax” as this carbon tax has driven up the cost of everything, forcing families to choose between heating their homes, putting food on the table or filling up their car.
MP Williams says, “When I was back home in the Bay of Quinte riding last week I heard from many constituents who are sharing stories about how they can’t afford to heat their home or how out of control grocery prices are.” MP Williams says this upcoming tax hike is the latest part of Prime Minister Trudeau’s plan to quadruple this tax over the next six years, even though it has had no effect on lowering emissions.
The Conservative Party states that while Canadians may get carbon tax rebates, the independent Parliamentary Budget Officer has been clear that most Canadian families will pay more in the tax than they receive in the rebate. This year, Trudeau’s carbon tax will cost families in Ontario $627 more than they get in rebates.
MP Williams says “Conservatives believe that the Liberal and NDP members of Parliament must answer for this tax increase in the House. That’s why, yesterday, we requested an emergency debate and will continue to fight for Canadians as they struggle to pay for heat, groceries, and the cost of living.
